Following up on Mowing Leaves of Grass and City on the Second Floor, Sedillo returns to FlowerSong Press with Mexican Style written with his signature dynamic urgency. Mexican Style is brimming with historic references and allusions to Mexican culture, both in Mexico and the US. This latest collection represents Sedillo's most ambitious work to date. In this collection Sedillo explores themes of struggle and identity while balancing satire and questioning the limitations of fame and persona. A more playful side of Sedillo with nods to, and homages and reinterpretations of  the works of Rulfo, Márquez, Buñuel, Gogol, Varda and more.

"Brimming with humor, raw honesty, and unflinching criticism, Sedillo's poems are a powerful exploration of belonging, resistance, and the enduring strength of the Mexican spirit."

- Reyna Grande, author, memoirist, essayist and winner of the American Book Award

"This collection of new poems is masterful, mature and roars in the distance like thunder announcing the incoming storm of the fruit of our complicity. Like Baraka, Montoya and Ginsberg, Sedillo forces us to look at our collective madness through the poet's eyes. A Maestro is born."

- Herbert Siguenza, playwright, actor, artist, founding member of Culture Clash

"Sedillo emits a sacred Chicanx voice in his work. Like songs, his poetry is rich with emotion. Visionary and deeply rhythmic, Sedillo sets the tone and hope in our Chicanx literary futures."

- Martha Gonazalez, Grammy Award winner, MacArthur Fellow, associate professor Scripps/Claremont College

"I don't like poetry. But I like what Matt does."

- Lalo Alcaraz, nationally-syndicated cartoonist, writer, producer and the creator of La Cucaracha and cultural consultatnt for the film Coco
